Located in the lower section of the historic Marietta Street Artery district of downtown Atlanta, the Pioneer Neon Lofts complex is a building consisting of 12 residential units and four businesses. Originally constructed in 1915 by the Selig Company, the building was Selig's headquarters and used primarily in the manufacture and sale of home-cleaning products, insecticides, and other consumer goods. Following additional construction for a second wing of the building in 1927, the facility doubled in size. The building was sold to Pioneer Neon Supply Co. in 1965 where it was utilized as a storage warehouse and office area until the mid-1980s. The building was renovated for use as loft apartments on the upper levels and commercial space on the street level in 1993. |
